Gray turned himself in and is booked at Hamilton County Jail and has been charged with two counts of child molestation. Following this, Gray was transferred in the fall of 2018 to Riverside Junior High School after requesting a transfer, reported the IndyStar. The principal told police the mother contacted him about a problem with Gray but did not suspect abuse was occurring. The victim's mother allegedly called the school counselor and reported the abuse and was told the principal at the time, Randy Schoeef, would contact her. The victim reported Gray would talk to her while touching her as a distraction. Gray would allegedly sit next to her and touch her skin above and below her clothes. The victim reported that Gray would send her to a room for punishment that was small, and the door would be closed and at least once the windows were covered. According to court documents, Gray allegedly touched a sixth-grade student inappropriately at least 10 times during the school year of 2017-2018. Ian Gray, 38-years-old, worked at Fall Creek Intermediate School at the time of the allegations. She is also a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association and Hamilton Southeastern Education Association. “Īn active member of SHAPE America and the Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (IAHPERD), Stan has given multiple presentations at state and district conventions. It’s nice to know that your peers recognize what you’re doing,” said Stan. Stan’s successful grant writing efforts have provided her school and district with funds to purchase much-needed equipment, including heart rate monitors, elliptical machines, adapted PE equipment, Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit, circuit equipment and even stability balls to use in the classroom as chairs. “Many activities that were previously large group activities have now been broken down into small-sided games to minimize lines and substitutions,” says Stan. I want to give them the perspective that they can do different things for fitness–it’s not always running and push-ups.” I don’t spend more than five days on an activity,” said Stan. “I really try to modify the way we do things to make it a lifetime achievement. Whenever possible, they walk around the gym or participate in dynamic stretching to reduce “sitting and waiting” time. One of the goals is to keep the students active during the entire period. Students attend PE class three days a week and health class two days a week. Stan said that the Riverside physical education program incorporates fitness daily. “I’m lucky because there are five people in my department, and we borrow ideas from each other,” said Stan. Stan has been a wellness educator at Riverside Junior High School for the past eight years. The award is given in recognition of outstanding teaching and the ability to motivate students to participate in a lifetime of physical activity.
